So someone gave me this little travel-size tube

Turns out the **** is attacking my vinyl seats in my
brand new Bayliner 175 Capri !. So I got two drops
on the front seats (in the bowrider section), and now
I got this swelled up, yellowish, soft spot on the front
seat. To make matters worse, I extended the seats the
other day, and come to find out that I have a similar
huge soft spot in between the crack of the drivers seat.
Some must of oozed off my back and into the seat crack.
So I don't know what to do now. The swelled up, soft
spots arn't good, and I've been spraying rubbing alcohol,
water, and other stuff on it to try and get the stuff to migrate
back out of the vinyl with no luck. This **** is evil I tell ya.
So has anyone else noticed this? What is in this **** to
do this? And what can I do to try and stop these spots
from doing anymore damage to the vinyl, or did the stuff
already break down the vinyl beyond hope? And your
eyes? ****!, so NOT get this **** in your eyes - I was
blinded for an hour after getting some of this **** in my
eyes. Is there a "vinyl-safe" sun blocker out there ??

Thanks!

Actually they don't. they block only part of the UV, and almost none if
wet. Try http://www.solarveil.com/123.asp And you do not want the affects
of too much sun. Yesterday and today have been visits to the dermatologist.
Scrape and burn on 2 spots and a Mohs surgery on a 3rd spot.
Bill

But, they're 'vinyl-safe'. And, I was obviously talking about a Solarveil shirt!

I do not know if T shirts are truly vinyl safe. Do they protect you from
burn when sitting down in those sun drenched vinyl seats?

Whoops! I must have had it backwards. I thought he was worried about the
*vinyl*!

I guess the safest would be to have the girlfriend sit on the seat and you sit
in her lap.

Sunblock, bug repelent?.... - whats the connection? hehe

Both are necessary in the swamp, like around here?

Besides, I usually got the boat moving too fast for any bugs
to land (and stay) on me anyhows. ...of course I suspose
there is that problem of bugs "sticking" to be with all that
gooey sunblocker smeared all over me. LOL

Some years back, I put on a heavy layer of 'Bullfrog' and then picked up
a pair of binocs... which instantly acquired a custom-molded grip that I
found difficult to put down... that's how I know!

Yer kidding! good Gawd... thats amazing. (and not something
you see everyday)

I quit working and had all these white shirts left. They are great on a
boat as sunblockers.

And no tie. Sweet!

Guys.... what of my swelled up spots on my vinyl from
the Copertone "Sport" sunblock? Is this a known thing
or a known chemical reaction? Can't I stop it, reverse it ?

I'd try calling Coppertone and see if they have any ideas. I can think of none,
other than recovering the cushions. You may try calling the boat manufacturer
and seeing if they would consider selling or maybe giving you some new cushions,
or at least the covers.

Why do you ask the experts?

Interesting. About twenty lines decrying the problems your sunblock causes
on vinyl, but only 1 line mentioning that the same sunblock causes temporary
blindness.

Could you explain your sense of priorities, please? I am all a-twitter with
anticipation.

I strongly suspect that this is unreversable. You will probably
need to replace or recover your seats.
