I'm going to try to get a project motor running.
1981 Merc 90 (6 cyl). I don't have the wiring harness.
What pins on motor (round plug) do I need to supply 12V+ ? I will jump
starter...My GUESS is #6 and #8, but guessing is kinda risky.

So Pin #8 will be hot if I hook battery to solenoid?
Do I then have to jump 12V+ to pin 6 (or anywhere else) to simulate key
being "on"?

The plug to the control is the OUT for 12v. It will usually connect to
the starter solinoid common side.

okaaaaayyy...what do i short out to kill engine?
(I suppose I could choke it out, too.)

The little secret of older outboards is they are on until you short
something out.
If you jump out ther starter solenoid it will probably start. Stopping
it is the trick. Lots of techs have been hurt because of this.

The black wire with yellow trace gets switched to ground to kill the engine.
