I have Dual Evinrude 20 hp motors, and a crestliner boat. Just wondering
about the wiring of the 2 lights and horn. I have it powered directly to the battery, but someone suggested i can wire them to the motors somewhere, so it doesnt give so much wattage or current. THey are very bright at night. Any comments would help. |

The wattage, is the bulb rating...that will determine its brightness...the higher the wattage, the brighter the light, and, the more current (amps) they will draw. You can put in some lesser wattage bulbs to save juice, but be careful...some boating laws dictate a certain "brightness" or candle-power. Now if someone is recommending taping into a lower voltage source...like 6 volts, don't do it. Your 12 volt bulbs will "burn dirty", and not last long. If you "need" to run 6 volts, then change your bulbs accordingly. Good luck. PS: Always properly fuse ANY circuit you put in, as close to the battery as possible, on the positive side. -- -Netsock "It's just about going fast...that's all..." http://home.columbus.rr.com/ckg/ |

If you do not have one put a voltmeter across the battery and check the
voltage. Normally you leave the engine charging circuit to charge the battery and run accessories from the battery. If your battery is charging to 14-15 volts you may need to either adjust the motors voltage regulator or find out about a aftermarket regulator. |
