It looks like North Carolina did a better job preparing for a Cat. 1
Hurricane hitting a secluded beach than LA did when preparing for a Cat. 5 Hurricane hitting major cities, one below sea level.. I noticed the NC National Guard was on the scene as soon as the hurricane passed, providing SAR, police support and damage control. Hopefully other local and state agencies can learn from NC. |

Not to defend New Orleans inept job, but let's be fair. There is no comparison between the two events. The problems of evacuation a million plus, under the best circumstances, are overwhelmingly difficult. One of those circumstances would be a competent Mayor/Governor. ;-) I noticed the NC National Guard was on the scene as soon as the hurricane passed, providing SAR, police support and damage control. I respectfully suggest, here is one city that hasn't learned from New Orleans. http://sptimes.com/2005/09/02/Tampab..._plans_u.shtml Katrina would have put half the county under water, yet they have no plans for a full evacuation. |

Damn it Starbucks.........stop trying to pass over the main issue with
Ophelia........the hurricane was obviously Bush's fault and should not have happened in the first place. "Starbuck's" wrote in message ... Damn you're stupid. Yes it would be stupid to blame the hurricane on Bush. Just as it would be stupid to blame the lack of preparedness by NO and LA for a Cat4 hurricane and flooding in a city lying 11 feet below sea level on Bush. |

Thunder,
I respectfully suggest that any city and state (except for NO and LA) that knew a Cat. 5 hurricane was going to hit them, would have called up the National Guard prior to landfall. Kevin,
NO and LA screwed the pooch, when they failed to take the most basic precautions when a Cat 5 was predicted to hit a city surrounded by levees and was below sealevel. When people ignore this obvious fact, and use this disaster as an excuse to attack ones political opponents, it is not only stupid, but counterproductive to solving the problem. wrote in message oups.com... *JimH* wrote: Damn it Starbucks.........stop trying to pass over the main issue with Ophelia........the hurricane was obviously Bush's fault and should not have happened in the first place. Please stop replying to my posts, and calling me Kevin. Are you really so stupid that you can't figure out how I can post from someone else's address? If and when you stop refering to me as Kevin, then I'll answer questions and correspond with you. |
