Does anyone know a good easy way to test a stator? number
2 cyl, has a weak spark, i have already switched the coils around and and is still weak on 2. The motor is a 1986 85hp Force 3 cylinders. Thanks for any suggestions Steve in Ct |

If the stater or pack was bad and you switch wires around on coils you
should have weak spark on wich ever coial you moved no 2 wire to. Sounds like a bad coil if you moved wires and spark stayed weak on no 2 |

Not sure on the Force engine but on a mercury and OMC's you have a timing
base on the crank which sends a pulse to a "switch box" or "Powerpack" which fires each coil. If you just switched coils it could still be your Switch Box/ Powerpack which is a good thing as the timing base is a much more spendy item. I live on the west coast and used www.boatingsolutions.com out of WA with great results on my OMC they have good prices and quick service.
