Need divers to clean bottoms and change zincs in San Francisco South Bay.
Please post your cards at bulletin boards and marine offices! Is that still legal in SF? Up this way there's no problem with changing zincs, but bottom cleaning is now generally forbidden unless the vessel is hauled out. |

How are the racing sailors dealing with that? Most of the guys I know
get the bottom cleaned once a week just to stay competetive. Don't personally know a lot of racing sailors, but they are all equally disadvantaged. The theory is that all the poison in the bottom paint will kill off any vegetation in the marina if chunks of paint are knocked loose during a scraping. Our boatyards are required to collect all the residue from pressure washing and treat or filter it. Most of our tide grids have been shut down for similar reasons. |
