Some of you may remember "Shogun," the Clavell novel that was made into
a multi-night TV series, starring Richard Chamberlain. It had quite a bit of "boating" adventure, so it surely is on topic here. In any event, I just found out the entire series, without deletions, is now available on DVD. It wasn't when I last checked, which was about a year ago. Big-time bookstores have it, but Amazon has it cheaper. This was one of my Top 10 television non-news events, and I ordered it at the time time I ordered a copy of President Bill's new book. Some of my other TV series favorites: The Horatio Hornblower series of a couple of years ago The Civil War series Cosmos Roots Connections Civilisation Anyone else remember Chamberlain in Shogun? |

You weren't waiting in line at that bookstore to get an autographed copy of Clinton's book? I remember the Shogun 'mini-series'?? on TV. Didn't see it all as I find most mini-series about twice as long as they need to be and I wasn't a big fan of Chamberlain. (Dr. Killdaire) |

Actually, I've often hoped someone would try Tai-Pan as a movie. I thought the book and the series equally good, and that in itself was unusual. The series, though, had a weak ending. |
