boat. Makes for good reading on the hook.

If you actually believe it had a gas engine just because Junger may have
said so in his book, you're either pretty gullible or just don't know
much about that type of boat. What model gas engine do you think they
would have used to power a vessel that weighs over 100 tons loaded for
weeks at a time? Why do you think they would have switched over to a
gas engine when it was originally built with a 900hp 1271 detroit
diesel?

It is possible that the generator and/or icemaker were powered by gas
engines. Could that be what you read and are confusing it with the main
engine? If it were my boat, those would be diesel also. Using one type
of fuel for everything has advantages when you're far away from anywhere
weeks at a time.

For sure it did, for the author specificly(sic) mentioned the crew of
the ill-fated vessel was so anxious about the trip that they went to
the boat the night before leaving to clean the plugs on the engine.

One sentence, just one sentence, but it clearly shows the Andrea Gail
had a gasoline engine. At least in the First Edition (for those out
there who know what a First Edition is, the rest of you can go fry an

Jax states that the author clearly states there was a gas engine. The
quote he used was that the men were cleaning the plugs on the engine.
The quote did not sate spark plugs. My engine has other types of
plugs besides spark plugs. Jax's quote does NOT conclude a as engine
existed. It may imply but it does not clearly state. No I did not
read the book because I first heard the story from the movie and if I
read the book It would ruin the movie.
