The Bush Economic Slide Continues... economics
A good post Chuck but in most cases, around here you're talking to a dial
tone. Takes about 5 minutes to type something like that out. I write and type quickly. You're right. It's like walking past a burning building and noticing a 5 gallon bucket of water sitting on the sidewalk. You pick up the water and toss it on the fire, knowing full well the inferno is out of control and the water won't really do much good. It just seems like the logical thing to do when something's burning. :-) |

Some of us think (I think Mark Browne may have offered this angle) that we just let the building burn to the ground so, when it's a total loss, people may come to understand the building should be a whole different structure. I'm counting on the former Governor from Vermont to turn a big ole ****in' hose on the works. It'd be awfully nice to see Karl Rove and his band of hooligans soaked to the bone. jps |

Dean doesn't stand a chance. He's far too liberal. And as much as you might not want to admit it, most Americans are not happy with the thought of liberals and their "big government" policies. Dave |

If we were counting Americans (as in "most") and not electoral votes, your side narrowly lost the last presidential election. Trying to be objective, it's till hard to see how you righties have done much to endear yourselves to the populace in the last couple of years. Based on the drop of the Prez. approval rating from almost 90% to down around 50, it looks like momentum ain't working for you, either. :-) |

His approval rating in now 58%, up from 54%. |

People base their perception on what they're fed by biased media sources. People also have short attention spans, and cannot stomach a long term comittment (no wonder the divorce rates are so high). Reality dictates that most difficult situations are not so easy, nor quick, to resolve. It's still bettrer to allow people the righ to choose their path, than have the government intervene at every turn. Cradle to grave social services do little more than breed dependance (and democratic votes). You learn a better life lesson, when "tough love" is applied. It also sends the wrong message, when those who achieve are demonized for their accomplishments and made to prop up those who refuse to. Dave |

Dave Most Americans consider themselves social liberals and fiscal conservatives. Dean is a social liberal and a fiscal conservative, the exact opposite of George Bush. I don't know about that. My findings indicate that most mainstream Americans are fiscally conservative and socially moderate. Dave |

Did you ever ask your wife the "do you think the government should have the right to command you to take a pregnancy to term?" If she said no, would you consider her a social liberal? |
