Motor Problems (Please help)
wrote in message ... I have a 1990 Mercruiser 3.0 L with A Alpha One Stern Drive. My problem is that when the motor starts up, it runs great for about 30 minutes then it starts to backfire and acts like it is running out of gas. I have checked the Carb and it is getting gas. I have replaced the Fuel Pump, Carburetor Needle vale, and Alternator. I was out in it yesterday trying it out again after doing the replacements and Guess what it started doing the something. I was checking everything out and touched the underside of the Distributor where the module sits and it was so hot it almost burned my fingers. I was wondering it this is normal or is the module heating and breaking down and causing the problems I am having. Could anyone tell me what to look at or what to check out to fix this problem? I think you answered your own question - the module shouldn't run to hot to touch. It doesn't cost much to replace - just replace it. It would seem that is the problem - in particular with the time factor. Good luck. Later, Tom |
