Perhaps it had something to do with the nature of the injury. Yep. I just read a clarification of the story as told by a local resident: ++++++++++++++ "As usual the media has created a mountain out of mole hill. They were not drifting, they were holding into some serious seas and trying to ride out a bad situation. His sister-in-law got hurt and they were unable to lower the sails. After 30 hours of heading into the Northerly wind, they ran out of fuel. Captain is not handicapped,sister-in-law is, thus the concern for her well being. His only request of the CG was to take her off the boat, they were prepared to keep sailing. The CG decided to tow them in rather then risk a pick up. Weather had become a big factor, with seas building and wind gusting out of North. They were trying to go North." +++++++++++++++ As usual, the media got it all wrong. |
Huh??
As usual, the media got it all wrong. As did you (as usual), resulting in yet another inane, pointless, idiotic post from you. What a nimrod. |

My wife does indeed accompany me on occasion, but this has been a very very busy "academic" summer for her and it will continue through Thanksgiving, so she only came out about a half-dozen times. We boat mostly in Chesapeake Bay and its environs, though we did make some trips down to the Atlantic. Sooooo, do "some trips" down *TO* the Atlantic qualify you as a bluewater boater, or are you mostly an "inland boater" who cracks you up? And oh yes, do tell us about that fabulous 36' Zimmermanlike Lobsta boat. -- Skipper |

Why am I not surprised? |

And you know nothing about the potential horrors of Great Lakes boating, including boating on Lake Erie. Here is your reading assignment for the weekend Krause. "Harry Krause" wrote in message ... I know the Great Lakes can get rough, but you have posted here that you stay close to shore and when you had your other boat, rarely left the marina. Harry, the beauty of boating on the Great Lakes is the scenery that you can see as you travel the near shoreline. This is especially true in the North. The upper Great Lakes are a cruisers paradise. The waters can get rough on occasion but careful planning of a trip can take care of that. There are numerous harbors of refuge all around the lakes. Harry, you should try a cruise in the North Channel of Lake Huron. This area is ranked as one of the best in the world. If you like fishing, then you would just love the Great Lakes! Jim |

"Harry Krause" wrote in message ... Jim. I am not knocking the Great Lakes. I lived in Birmingham, Michigan, for four years, and had a relative in the immediate area who took us out on Lake Huron and we even trailered over the Lake Michigan a couple of times. My comments were directed at Hertvik and his boating practices, not the Great Lakes. I know that you weren't knocking the Great Lakes Harry, It's just that perhaps Mr. Hertvik's near shore boating is the best way to see the beauty of the Lakes. Also, at times of bad weather, I have been kept in the Marina for days. Some weekends it is too rough on the lake to go out. This is especially true on shallow Lake Erie. Short, steep chop would not be comfortable boating conditions in his small boat. I have seen summer storms on Lake Erie where waves of 2 to 3 meters can develop in a few hours. Not good! Jim |
