Default Boating Topic (you've been warned): Newport Beach to Emerald Bay

I just came across a vague reference to a small cove a few miles south of
Newport Beach called Emerald Bay/Cove (not the one on Catalina Island). It
was suggested as a good place to anchor, swim, picnic.

Anyone ever experienced that location? Anything to say about it? I'll
either take an 18 foot runabout down the coast or a 30 foot sailboat.

Bear in mind that Emerald Cove is surrounded by a very high-end private
community. I don't know if the beach is public or not but even if it is
public you're not likely to get a very warm reception there, but I could be
wrong. It's a beautiful spot, if you make the trip let us know how it goes.
