What is there about a Christmas evening mass you don't understand?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Same to you.

Wishing you Peace, Fellowship, and Good Humor as we celebrate the birth of OUR Lord, Jesus Christ on the Christmas Holy Day

Who is this "we" to whom you keep referring?

What I don't understand is why you would attend a service of a 'stinking' (in your words) religion?

Your words, not mine. I've never used that phrase to refer to the
Catholic church.

Bull****! You said, "...your stinking religion..." I am Catholic, and have probably said so in the
group, or at least implied same. In any case, you've undoubtedly got the information in your
'rec.boats data base'.

Default Krause Proven Wrong

That's what happens when Krause is proven wrong. Face it, his position
was severely flawed. So much so, that his usual smoke 'n mirrors just
didn't mask his ignorance of the subject.

JohnH,

I am not Catholic, but I thought Christmas Mass was like a Jewish Temple
for
the High Holidays. You had so many people showing up that they had
trouble
sitting all of the people who wanted to attend. Many temples will provide
tickets to the active members of the temple. Do they ever limit
attendance
to at the Church to active Catholics? Or do they allow the dregs of
society
in?

I am just wondering how Harry is allowed to attend Christmas Mass. A non
Catholic, who is not even a Christian. Does this mean an active, devote
Catholic will have to stand up in the back of Church so Harry can attend
Mass?

If the devout Catholic is late, they will stand in the back, or go to the
other masses in the hall in a large parish. I am not Catholic, but am
married to one. So C&E gets me to church, plus a few other times. I get to
sit anywhere there is a seat, they do not ask if I am from the parish,
actually they say a welcome to all from there and out of town, Catholic or
not.

JimC,
Why is the fact that Dec. 25th is not the actual birthday of JC matter? I
don't think anyone really thinks 12/25 is his birthday, they use that

annual
date to celebrate his birth. It is very common among parents who adopted
children from overseas, to designate a date to celebrate the child's
birthday. They know it is not the actual date, but it allows them to
celebrate their child's birthday. Why is this so hard to understand?

You don't have to convince me of that fact! I fully understand the myth
of it. Tell that to the fans of Christmas in this group. I am not one of
them. I am not a Christian.

John, could you quote the chapter and verse in your bible that says Jesus

Thanks.....
Jim C.

Can you quote the chapter in your history book that says Martin Luther

King, Jr. was born on the
third Monday in January?
No, I probably could not find December 25th mentioned anywhere in the

Bible. I won't even look.
So what?
John H

Well John H. The reason that I am asking you if you could quote the chapter
and verse in your bible that says Jesus Christ was born in December is
because he wasn't born in December at all. Bible historians state that
Jesus was born in the fall of the year, not in winter. That, you will find
in your Bible. Go look it up. You are the Christian, I am not.
Therefore you should know what your bible says with regards to the birthdate
of your Jesus Christ. You must be celebrating on the wrong day!

My history books tell me that Martin Luther King Jr., was born on the the
15th of January. What does that have to do with Christmas? I don't
celebrate his birthday either.

Jim C.

Again, the 'date' of the celebration is unimportant. The *event* is what is being celebrated. I used
the MLK example simply to show that dates aren't important.

To which bible historians are you referring? Like I said, the actual date isn't mentioned in the
bible, which you seem to think I should have memorized. What good would it do me to have done so?

The bible historians are the ones at the Holy See.

It would do you some good to know your bible as you are the Christian.
