Default Lowrance X71 question

Anyone know how to test if the transducer is bad? I've cleaned it and
it is pointing the right way. The cable appears ok (where I can see
it). Can I check it with a simple ohmmeter??

Thanks

Oh yeah....I guess I should have mentioned that...

It's flashing 0... sometimes it will flash an extrememly high depth
like 300ft. THis happens underway or anchored.

It does sound like a bad transducer. Only way I know to check (ohm
meter won't work) is to get your hands on a new transducer and try it.
Can you buy a transducer with ok to return it? It will work in air, so
you don't have to get it wet.
