Plug just about any inquiry into Deja/Google and you'd find great
information from this group. Not anymore. Today...400 posts of
garbage...and from 'contributors' who have very little practical
knowledge of boats AND boating. The knowledgeable sources have gone to
saner climes.

Just look at the posts from the NG's most prolific offenders; Harry
Krause, Doug Kanter, Bert Robbins, Alt_man2, JimH, JohnH, P. Fitz, or
Gene Kearns. Research the archives for ANY relevant subject...these
folks are totally void of useful boating information in the archives.
You will not see this current crop of know nothings being the source for
anything useful.

Face it, rec.boats is a bad joke to serious boaters...as are those who
continue to contribute to the pollution. Go ahead fellas, make a name
for yourselves...

You have also not contributed one iota to any discussion about boats since
you came back. You have, however, dug up some old posts you made years back

Perhaps I was in error to include you in the list of the worst NG
polluters. Would you care to point us toward a couple useful and
informative boating posts of yours we can find in the Google archives?
...Didn't think so. And that was the message here...useful contributions
versus uselessness. Time for you folks to find something useful to do.

You've not looked too hard, Skipper.

You didn't say what kind of information you were looking for.

That would be a good start.

I have actually noticed some signs of improvement recently.

Lead by example.

Agreed.

Actually, I have looked, JimH is one of the worst offenders. There was a
time when this NG was a great source of boating information, but no
more. Harry's barbs and insults drew in far too many non-boaters who see
NG participation as a game where nonsense prevails. The unique position
of this NG to provide a variety of viewpoints to an on-topic subject has
been overcome and swamped by tons of insults and gibberish. Serious
boaters are no longer the driving force of this NG...and it ain't about
to change.

Skipper,
It might not change, but the suggestion to start on topic posts, and ignore
the Off Topic trolls for the next week is a start.

Sort of like an alcoholic, we just need to take one day at a time.

I just looked at my outdoor thermometer.

Hard to take boating seriously at the moment.

What if it's cloudy out?

What if you were Muslim?

Speaking of which, does anybody know if Muslims East of Mecca are
required to face West during prayers?

Far enough east, and you are west. As to sleeping in and being a Muslim?
Maybe it is a major reason they are so angry and suicide prone. No women to
ogle, and can't sleep in.

Did you read Chuck's post? Have you read any of Wayne B's or my posts over the past couple days?

If you are interested in changing the tone of the group, participate in the change. Dragging up and
complaining about history is not going to change anything.

Yes, except for a few, we've all acted like %#(**)(*(&^%'s. So, let's change.

It ain't about to change if you let the same old grudges drive your train. You surely weren't the
only one on the receiving end of the name-calling, and there were plenty of times you were on the
shooting end. Me too.
