PS. When I quit smoking, it was, "15 minutes at a time"!

Plug just about any inquiry into Deja/Google and you'd find great
information from this group. Not anymore. Today...400 posts of
garbage...and from 'contributors' who have very little practical
knowledge of boats AND boating. The knowledgeable sources have gone to
saner climes.

Just look at the posts from the NG's most prolific offenders; Harry
Krause, Doug Kanter, Bert Robbins, Alt_man2, JimH, JohnH, P. Fitz, or
Gene Kearns. Research the archives for ANY relevant subject...these
folks are totally void of useful boating information in the archives.
You will not see this current crop of know nothings being the source
for
anything useful.

Face it, rec.boats is a bad joke to serious boaters...as are those who
continue to contribute to the pollution. Go ahead fellas, make a name
for yourselves...

You have also not contributed one iota to any discussion about boats
since
you came back. You have, however, dug up some old posts you made years
back

Perhaps I was in error to include you in the list of the worst NG
polluters. Would you care to point us toward a couple useful and
informative boating posts of yours we can find in the Google archives?
...Didn't think so. And that was the message here...useful contributions
versus uselessness. Time for you folks to find something useful to do.

You've not looked too hard, Skipper.

Actually, I have looked, JimH is one of the worst offenders. There was a
time when this NG was a great source of boating information, but no
more. Harry's barbs and insults drew in far too many non-boaters who see
NG participation as a game where nonsense prevails. The unique position
of this NG to provide a variety of viewpoints to an on-topic subject has
been overcome and swamped by tons of insults and gibberish. Serious
boaters are no longer the driving force of this NG...and it ain't about
to change.

I still wake up in the middle of the night kicking myself in the butt for the cigarette I smoked in
my dreams. Damn but those are some realistic dreams!

I just looked at my outdoor thermometer.

Hard to take boating seriously at the moment.

Then perhaps it's a good time to fix what's broke.

Harry,
As someone who was not on the list (but should have been) I would like to
say everyone's (including yourself) new kinder and gentler persona's makes
rec.boats a pleasure to read. This might result in some new boaters to join
rec.boats and actually discuss boating.

The problem with our old ways is we chased away anyone who actually wanted
to discuss boats.

Gosh, Skipper.... straighten us all out by posting a picture of one of
you alleged boats or some recent boating experiences, ok?

Looks like you'd jump at the chance to show all of us uninitiated the
subtle nuances of the HIGHLY MODIFIED 2252 BAYLINER.

No? Why are you not able?

Just want you to know, Gene, that I am damned proud to be on Skipper's

I have to admit, this group has been a joy to visit for the past couple days. The
atmosphere is much different from what it was last week at this time.

Now, who has a recipe for a good horseradish sauce for prime rib?

JohnH,
I would get in the car, drive to the supermarket, and walk down the
condiment aisle. Buy the most expensive horseradish sauce, and you are
done.

Nope. Been there, done that. The fresh homemade sauce is much better. I had a recipe
that was sour cream based, but I lost it. It was good.
