If you zoom in, you can see where there is a fairly large split in the side
of the boat, right below the waterline. It looks like they might not be
trying to push the boat off the shoal, but to keep it from sinking.

anyone else notice something funny about this pic? not being a physics
major, i would venture my guess it would be easier to push the boat off
the shoal if the fat guy either stood on the other side, or got OFF the
boat.
