If you are set on a .45 ACP, you might want to check out this latest
polymer model from Springfield, the folks who brought us the 1911 .45 ACP:

http://www.springfield-armory.com/pr...tl-45acp.shtml

It just came out, and it is generating a lot of interest. If I were in the
market for a semi-auto handgun, I'd consider it.

Saved it, thanks.

Next week I am going to check into the required instruction and get that
done. I found the MA application for a handgun or CWP. The last question is
"For what purpose are you applying for a CWP?", or something to that affect.
I guess the honest answer is "for protection of life and property". It's
not a hobby.

Sounds most reasonable.

CWP is concealed weapon permit?
You intend to "carry"?

Guess not. I just checked the laws in MA. I can get a handgun permit, but
not a "Class A" or for "any lawful purpose" license to carry. My town is
listed as one of many that simply don't approve these. Heh. But the guy
...... oh, never mind.

I need to do some more research.

hate to tell you this my good friend, but considering where you live,
you aint gonna get no permit - sorry about that.

How 'bout a BB gun?

I suspect you are right in terms of a license to carry. I am not sure about
a license to own and keep a handgun with all the restrictions in terms of
travel, etc. I have to check into this more.

I used to have a firearms permit here in MA that was required for air
powered guns and conventional rifles. Then the powers to be made them
obsolete and invalid and you were supposed to apply for a new type of
permit. I never bothered because I never had a gun or rifle. I now own a
shotgun that I bought in Florida that is illegal for me to have here. You
can buy air pistols and rifles without a permit now.
