It's easier to do this on the phone but I'll try. Open up Windows Explorer. On the top line, under Tools... Click on Folder Options... Click on File Types... Once that fills in, scroll on down the list to the kind of files you want to open with the program you want to use. The suffix is the key here... *.jpg" for example. When you click on that extension, you'll see a little dialogue telling you what program opens those kinds of files. There will be a box there that lets you Change that program. So in that box, you change it back to what you like. That should do it. The "Restore" button in that box might do it for you. Maybe. If this doesn't work, let me know and we can talk on the phone. It's a lot easier to simply open "My Documents", then "My Pictures" (assuming she stores .jpg files there), right click on any .jpg, select "open with" , chose the viewer or program you want .jpg files to default to, then click on the "Use Always" or whatever it says. Until you change it again, .jpgs will always open with the chosen viewer or program. RCE |

Also, I open some types of photos with one view and others with another. And I don't always open *.jpgs" with ACDsee, for example. Sometimes I use Photoshop. Life ain't simple. *His* question was, "How do you return to using the slide show viewer in Windoze"? Simple. RCE |

RCE,
Yes his question was "How do you return to using the slide show viewer in Windoze?" But in his subject line he was asking GEEKS how to do it. Your answer was clearly not geekie enough. Sincerely, Injam 1. Open up "My Computer". 2. Click "Tools" on the tool bar. 3. Click "Folder Options". 4. Click the tab "File Types". 5. Choose the picture format you want to change/modify. 6. At the bottom of the dialog window, click on "Change". 7. Pick the program "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". You may now open that file type, and the program will only "slide show" the pic files inn that specific directory. There is an icon at the bottom to start the slide show, or you can hit F11. Good luck. __ "It's just about going fast...that's all..." http://home.columbus.rr.com/ckg/ |
