My daily runner needs new shoes. Size: 265/65/17 I'm looking at Michelin Cross Terrains at $193 a foot, versus Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's at $179. In other words, the price is close to the same. And too much! If your local store will go for it, try and price match to TireRack.com and you'll get them for $167 and $138 apiece, respectively. If not, just buy direct from Tire Rack and have them mounted by a shop locally. So, how the hell does one decide, one over the other? Tire Rack has user ratings, based on actual use. It looks like the Michelins are far better tires; In the category of Highway All-Season LT tires, the Michelins rank #7 overall, and the Wranglers come in at #41. The Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051 ranks #3, and is available in your size for $123 a corner. http://www.tirerack.com/survey/Surve...r+H%2FT-S+G051 -- ~/Garth - 1966 Glastron V-142 Skiflite: "Blue-Boat" "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." -- Kenneth Grahame ~~ Ventis secundis, tene cursum ~~ |
