We'll be traveling from FL to visit Valparaiso and Muncie in the next
couple of weeks and plan to lug our canoe along for whatever time on the water we can find between there and home. While in Muncie we thought that we would try the west fork of the White River. Can anyone recommend some good day trips around Valpo? Thanks, JM |

![]() West Fork of the White is good. Should have water. Valpo- That is a tough corner of the state. Start here- http://indianaoutfitters.com/riverclickable.htm You could think about a run to South Bend, play on the East Race (use the duckies they rent). Also in that area, you could paddle the St. Joe down to St. Pat's park, or maybe to Niles. Big river, but should move fast. South of Valpo, look at Deer Cr., Camdem to Delphi. Wildcat Cr. Maybe drive down to Sugar Cr., further drive, but very pretty. You could head back East on the toll road, get off at Sturgis exit, paddle the Fawn or Pigeon rivers. Again, involves some drive time. Not familiar with the Kankakee- sorry. That might be just the one you need. email me direct if there is anything else I can do for you. I might be able to find you a Kankakee savy paddler. -Dan On Sat, 06 May 2006 23:20:19 GMT, Jack wrote: We'll be traveling from FL to visit Valparaiso and Muncie in the next couple of weeks and plan to lug our canoe along for whatever time on the water we can find between there and home. Thank you very much. The link you sent and your suggestions are very
helpful. I'll explore these further and follow up if I need more. JM On 2006-05-06 22:17:53 -0400, Dan Valleskey said: West Fork of the White is good. Should have water. Sugar Creek down by Turkey Run can be a enjoyable time if you want to stop on your way up. Also check out the hiking trails there...
