Default Mercruiser Alpha 1

Have a 2001 305 mercruiser with alpha 1 outdrive. When running the engine
today I noticed water coming out of the upper opening near were the big
flat anode is. Is this normal or is there something that connects the upper
half of od to the lower half that allows the exhaust to come out of the prop
that may have broke. don't have a manual to look at, but just wondering if
this is normal operation that I just haven't noticed over the years. Exhaust
still coming out of the prop and both ports are exhausting water on each
side of the od. If a pic is needed to look at e-mail me and I'll send one
off

Thanks Rich
