There was his failed 1992 coup attempt. But I sure do like the way he has managed to get under our President's skin. bin Laden got under our Presidents' skin. So did Ho Chi Minh, Hitler, Hirohito, Hussein, and others. Did you like the way they managed to get under our Presidents' skin? |

When the Republicans retain the House and Senate this Fall, they should move to abolish the 22nd Amendment...so we can have an "active democracy" like Venezuela. They're not working on that now? Chavez is one of the most interesting pols on the world scene. I got a kick out of the way the Bushshippers "retaliated" against him yesterday by banning arm sales to Venezuela. Chavez, after all, doesn't support the Bushshippers' fraudulent anti-terrorism program. Has anyone in the Bushshipper Administration noticed that South America is slipping away from the US sphere of influence? South American neo-Marxists like Chavez are buying the hearts and souls of the poor and destitute with bribes in the form of "social services"...just like the Democrats do in this country. The problem is that the money for the social services (a.k.a. bribes) can only come from the pockets of the successful capitalists that the neo-Marxists work so diligently to distance themselves from. It can't go on forever. The first thing that happens is decreased western expenditures in the country...followed shortly after by an embargo. The next thing you know, a once-vibrant Venezuela becomes the new Cuba. They're 15 minutes is almost up. |

I would say they have...as evidenced by the selection of John Negroponte to serve as US Director of National Intelligence. He has plenty of experience in destabilizing non-US-friendly governments in South America...which might be needed once again with Daniel Ortega's Sandinistas making a comeback. ;-) |

Yup, I could see this President embargoing them. They're 15 minutes is almost up. |

Yeah, but Republicans actually vote...and they don't need to be bribed by people handing out cigarettes. When Clinton hit 37% approval in Gallup's poll, he had only a 63% approval rating among his own party. Bush's popularity among Republicans is phenomenal. The only reason it's not in the mid-80's is because of his stance on immigration. But his speech the other night should help that. |
