I found some, then noticed they were manufactured and sold in the UK.

Also found something you might be interested in. Some engine manufacturers
are using E-Tech technology in some of their small, 2 stroke engines for
items like lawn trimmers. Husky and Husqvarna are two examples.

I was in the gardening business and then mower business for about 20
years. The Briggs was always a pain. The very best mower ever was

Guess what? Briggs engine on it! That rider worked fine for 15 years,

Engine reliability is a direct result of proper care. Lawn Boy is using
a lot of Tecumseh engines now. They are rock solid. But I'll take a
Briggs over about anything for reliability, except Kohler.

This is about 21" mowers, not riders, and engines of about five HP.
Riders get into bigger engines and nowadays have OHV twins and even 4
cylinder.

But for the usual small mower engines, 21" or less, especially consumer
junk, the Briggs is designed to be low end and cheap as possible. A
consumer 21" mower with a Honda is a much better choice.

And to think that OMC used to own lawn boy. then sold to Toro. OMC,
made some mfj. blunders with them over their leaky gas tanks, sold to
Toro, and didn't tell anybody, even though they had corrected the tank
issue, there were a crap load of them out there with bad tanks, and now
the monkey was on Toro's shoulders. OMC didn't tell, go caught and got
fined... but thats about it, from what I remember.....

I have to disagree. According to Consumer Reports, mower engines up 5.5
hp, Honda has just a mediocre repair dollars history. Briggs? First. If
you belong to Consumer Reports you can look the info up. They don't let
you copy and paste links to specific information if you subscribe, it
comes back as timed out. But, it's simple, Briggs are very easy to work
on, they are tough, and if they do break, parts are cheap. That is NOT
the case with Hondas.
