Risto San Francisco, and there is the South End Rowing Club a little west of Pier 39, where there are swimmers all year. Near Marina Green, the place where you saw most of the damage during the 1989 Earthquake. The California Sea Lions have sunk boats, etc. They have become a major problem, but even though they are not and have never been an endangered species, under Federal law, you can not harass them. If they invite themselves aboard, you are legally not allowed to kick them off. They have increased so much, that they will take as much as 75% of a commercial salmon trollers catch. They hang around the party boats and wait for dinner. |
