Jim, did the "new" mechanic feel there was no other engine damage?

Unless the winterizing is already done, I'd still ask them to run a
compression test, to see if a cylinder is low on compression. ie burned
halve, blown head gasket, or even a cracked head.

These engines are pretty tough, but can still be hurt by accessive
heat, and in some cases, it doesn't take much, either.

I went to check on the repairs on my boat this morning, get the winterizing
set up and square away on my bill. The engine was running rough after my
overheating episode this summer. My new mechanic found that the port side
exhaust manifold gaskets had failed due to the overheating and were allowing
water into 2 of the cylinders. They also found that the oil cooler was
leaking and the wrong spark plugs were installed (I had my old marina do a
tune up on the boat last summer).

Every time the *OMC Certified* mechanic at my old marina touched my boat he
screwed something up. First he never replaced the impeller like I asked him
to, saying he checked it and was working fine. Then the boat overheated
because the impeller failed. Then he installed the wrong temperature
thermostat when trying to "fix" the problem, never finding the bad manifold
gasket. Earlier he used the wrong spark plugs during a routine tune-up.

Boy am I glad we switched marinas and now have a good mechanic. ;-)

Wow! Sounds like more bad karma.

Actually it is good karma John as things are all fixed and I found a
great marina and mechanic.

My *bad karma*, as you and Reggie talked about in recent months, was
due to a dumbass presenting himself as an OMC certified mechanic. My
other *bad karma* was due to an old sump pump I failed to change.

LOL....I guess this *karma* thing is easy to turn around.

Hope everything works out for Jim. ;)

Why thank you John, but if already has. ;-)

Anyway........Friends are coming over in 15 minutes or so to watch the
OSU/BGSU game and then feast on 6 slabs of baby back ribs I marinated
in my special wet rub overnight. 3 slabs are cooked.....3 more are in
the oven as I type this. They will later be slathered with BBQ sauce
and grilled for 5 to 10 minutes on the outside grill.

Beer is on ice. Cole slaw was made this morning. Mmmm, mmmmm.

In the oven??? And you call THAT **** BBQ?

I remember telling JimH that his mechanic was a dumbass last summer,
for
all the reason listed here. Yet, JimH response was his mechanice was
an
OMC certified mechanic, and who was I to question his mechanice's
judgment. There is an old expression, "Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool my twice, shame on me". I remember JimH not only getting fooled
over and over again, but being very nasty when I told him him mechanic
was an dumbass whose ignorance was going to cost him money. Some
people wonder why so many bad things happen to them, when to everyone
else it is obvious.

Care to Google up and post (the entire thread) some proof of those
claims Reggie?

You sure seem to worry about what I do with my life. I suggest you try
to get a life of your own so you can stop worrying about mine.

I remember it, also. Your bipolar condition bothering you again, Jim?

So, for you:
http://tinyurl.com/pbj53

Where you stated:
"These folks taking care of my boat are pretty reputable."

And here is the thread where you stick up for your mechanic when Reggie
was trying to tell you you need a new one.

Hmmm. I still can't find any part in those threads that support Reggies
attack on me when he said:

Where did I get nasty. When did I question him? I looked at both links you
provided and could not find me doing things.

But I did read Reggie butting in on a thread about scum at the waterline
trying to stir the pot with me and Harry with a whole new topic, then having
JohnH ride up on his pony and defending Reggie, with you soon following
suit. It then became a JimH bashing thread spearheaded by the 3 of you.

Anyway I am done with you. Like Reggie you come here only to stir the pot
and try to start fights with me and others here. You are one of, if not the
most angriest and spiteful persons I have ever known.

Now go join Reggie in the bozo bin. The 2 of you can continue to follow me
around and post nasty things about me. You are the ones looking foolish.

Good bye.

So, I click your second link and this is what comes up first:

That second link sort of sums it all up about BK and Reggie and what their
real purpose is here...to stir the pot and try to start fights and
arguments.

You stirred the pot, Jim, with your lies and accusations about me and
my family. Are you still trying to lie to everyone here and saying that
you never did that to ME? Did you happen to see the posts that tells
the story otherwise? You are getting good at showing everyone here what
a low life you are. You aren't even man enough to apologize to someone
when you are SHOWN that you lied.

This is a classic!! Here JimH has went for at least a year posting lies
and untrue accusations about me, and worse, about my family. Now he
whines about someone saying "nasty things" about him?????

Before you go, I've still not heard your comments about your lies and
accusations to my family. Remember? You said you never said anything
about me and my family, only Kevins, right? I then posted several of
your lies that were TO ME. What do you say about them? Also, let's just
say you DID only tell those lies and accusations about Kevin and HIS
family. That still makes you the lowest life scum of usenet.

Awe, how cute! I take it that you'd be the type of person that would
ALLOW someone to tell lies about you, your wife and kids? I also take
it that you are the type that would let someone untruthfully accuse
you, your wife and kids of horrific things? If so, you're a coward. I
stick up for my wife and my kids, unlike that low life JimH.

I think obviously most of us would stick up for our families, certainly
in person. In person, I doubt you have this problem often. On the
internet? I'm not sure what I'd do. It depends...on how serious I
think I should take him. On how anonymous we are--I mean how personal
can it be when you don't know the person that say things about you but
doesn't know you either, and you know he doesn't know you and he knows,
and everyone knows that nobody knows anybody here online...mostly.
Whew. Anyway, I guess it would depend, but I could see how I could
call the guy a jerk, don't worry about defending the obvious, and just
move on.

If we did know each other, or it got real personal, or something
private was exposed on the internet that shouldn't have been, or if it
got nasty in person, then we'd have some issues...that I would probably
follow up in person.

I guess most of us watching this fued thing go don't know what you're
talking about. The only thing I've really taken from this is the guy
doesn't like his former mechanic because he messed everything up, and
got the situation corrected with a new guy...but at one time he
defended his mechanic to some of you...and that was apparent a dumn
thing. Well, it is very common for people to want to defend there guy,
especially if the credentials part works out and they like him. That's
typical. That's a guy who is a loyal customer for life if you take
care of him. It's unhealthy to go out and 3 bid everything like in
industry engineering projects (and even then often not). If this isn't
the story, then as far as this thread is concerned, I'm lost. And I
don't find the need to follow every link from past threads, so I may
have missed something.

So, maybe a lot of us don't know anything about this slander towards
your family. The only reason I have a notion of it is because you
brought it up here. Maybe I'm in the minority. Don't know. If he
really did this, and you aren't exagerating things or misinterpreting
anything, then being frustrated makes sense. Do you know each other?
Is it a situation where it isn't already obvious it's just internet
smack talk? Are you just po'ed and find that its easy to strike back
on the internet? Other?
