Speaking of "up here". I am back on the boat and the weather is more
like Feb-March rather than May. Rainy and COLD!

Know what you mean. Almost froze while walking my dog out at York Dedoubt
at the entrance to the harbour.

Has warmed up here. A nice 70's day. At least the wind has died down.

Mid 60's here and sunny. Mid 70's and sunny tomorrow. I should be able to
get the boat in the water tomorrow.

This reminds me of a Spring about two/three years ago.

Nasty rotten New England late fall weather right up until July.

Sure does shorten the boating season.
Drove past two local yacht clubs and one marina on the way to the old fort.
Although the yard staff were busy launching, the vast majority of the boats
were still snug on their cradles. This long weekend (Victoria Day) is
supposed to be the official start of boating season around here.

Lately we have jumped from winter to summer. We are finally having a
somewhat normal Spring.

It bothered me more when we had our larger boat because we would spend
weekends on the boat, even though the Lake may have been too rough to go out
on. I always got it done and splashed before Mother's Day.

Now that we have a smaller boat getting the boat done and in the water is
not as important, although I will get it in earlier next year as we will
have no house remodeling project as we have had over the past months.

As of last weekend, most boats at my marina were still on the hard.

Got up this morning to take down the old pool solar panels, and cart off
to the dump. Nice to not have to worry about the wind blowing them down
the street as I removed them. New solar panel time.

Just curious, how many years did you get out of the old ones? What's the
reason for the new ones? Solar power has never made much of an inroad
around here (NJ). I always assumed our cloud cover was to blame. The
few panels I see here, look to be for domestic hot water heat. I can't
say I've ever seen any for pool heating, except for those floating pool
cover things.

These were Fafco panels and we were trying to remember when we got them.
Been at least 20 years. The new ones are warranted for 5 years. The sun
finally go to them, that if you tried to plug a bad tube, the tube just
split. they work well, NJ, may not need them as it stays hot day and night
during the summer months from what I have experienced when I visited that
state. The neighbors panels lasted about 12 years, but since he pays
someone to do repairs, may have been cheaper to replace. Got the new panels
from Leslie pool supply and were on sale for $219 each. They say 3 is
enough, but is only 240sq ' and the Fafco was 320'. I'm leaving 4 Fafco
panels that do not leak connected to the system.
