HELP! Power Trim/Tilt Stopped Working!
My power trim seems to be completely dead all of a sudden. This is on
a 99 Larson with a 4.3L Volvo Penta. I have pushed the circuit breaker (red) buttons on the engine but makes no difference. Is there another breaker somewhere else? The voltmeter does not show any fluctuation when I press the button so I know that the pump is not drawing any current. It did move down when the tilt was working. The reservoir seems to have plenty of fluid. What else should I be looking at? I have the repair manual for this engine but it has no info on the tilt/trim! Thanks! |

HELP! Power Trim/Tilt Stopped Working!
Are both Trim AND Tilt out? If only Trim, the position sensor or wiring
may be open circuit, or the Trim switch is bad. If both, there are 2 relays; one for UP, one for DOWN. These work with both Trim and Tilt. Either both relays or the wiring connections on them are bad (both, unlikely) or the power supply to the relays is open (likely). On Mercruiser, there is a main fuse on the Bus to the relays, in addition to the system cirrcuit breaker. JR Inno wrote: My power trim seems to be completely dead all of a sudden. Pushing up trims up and if you hold it long enough it tilts the lower unit right up. Pushing down brings the unit in/down. I just tried it again and the up switch ran the trim pump for about one second then quit. What does this mean? It is not a (permanently) blown fuse or open circuit I guess. |

HELP! Power Trim/Tilt Stopped Working!
Prolly a logic circuit operates it as you describe. Bad position sensor
or really poor connections to the relays indicated. Also, possibly bad logic. JR Inno wrote: On Jul 12, 4:08 pm, JR North wrote: Are both Trim AND Tilt out? I am new to this boat and my manuals do not have wiring diagrams. Thanks! |
