Default Hmmm - isn't this interesting...

While researching paraskevidekatriaphobia I came across something that
just sounds absoutely daft.

To wit:

Phobiaphobia which is the irrational fear of irrational fears.

Interesting huh?

Not being a psychologist or psychiatrist, and not having played one on
TV at any point in my life, it would seem to me that having an
irrational fear about having irrational fear would be an irrational
fear and thus be a plain old phobia.

Must be one of those subtle/nuance things I have so much trouble with
understanding. :)

In your absence we voted you the least subtle, most unnuanced guy in
rec.boats.

I proudly accept this Honor in the manner in which it was given.

I think you are just being sesquipedalian.

Man, I *love* that word! And the last time I trotted it out was on
somebody a few weeks ago who was showin' off with "triskaidekaphobia",
too. Really. ;-)

I prefer to think of myself as a antidisestablishmentarian.
