Default A general commentary on "Courage"...

This is the only newsgroup I've ever been in where a post meant to be
funny - penguin on a polar sleeping polar bear with cymbals, can turn
into a discussion about (1) penguins can't fly (2) penguins aren't
located at the North Pole (3) Pigs can't fly either.

~~ sheesh ~~

It is crazy the way NG threads take on a life of there own, but it has
been a problem with Usenet since it's creation. I am sure you have seen
this joke before.

Question: How many subscribers to a newsgroup does it take to change a light
bulb?

Answer: 275

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light
bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to flame posters for spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing
light bulbs

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot
handle the light bulb controversy

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

2 to post reasons why the light bulb burning out is the result of a
government conspiracy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

43 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs"

8 to accuse posters of being pedophiles

6 to file abuse reports on posters for posting off-topic

20 to accuse the OP of being a troll

1 lurker to respond to the original post 6 months later and start the whole
thing all over again!!!!!!

Yeah - I have. Slightly different, but essentially the same.

Even after all these years, it still amazes me.

Nah - I have a ton of things I have to do this weekend - a little
SWMBO stuff and some brush clearing. Maybe head up to the lake this
evening, but that's unlikely.

Maybe Monday or Tuesday - go chase some albies.

Ouch, relax man.. It was two weeks ago. Anyway, today is not a fishing
day, it is a stable day. It's no fun outdoors if there ain't no poo on
yer shoe

Today is a wheelbarrow day. Carrying a couple yards of topsoil to the back
yard in the hopes I can get a decent lawn back there. It's something I go
through almost every year. It never works, but I keep hoping. The trouble
is the nine big oaks in the back yard. I'm on a 1/3rd acre lot, so that
will give you an idea of why I can't get grass to grow well back there.

But, it keeps me off the streets!- Hide quoted text -

At the other place I had an area where all I could get was moss, so
eventually I stopped trying to get grass, limed it up and cultivated
the moss. Never needs mowing, very soft...
