re gear lube for Johnson 25hp 2 stroke outboard.
I was just at the marine supply store and asked about the 'Ultra HPF lube recommended by the owners manual (that I downloaded) The dealer salesman said 80% of the locals were using the Hi-Vis version and he'd recommend I do same as it's cheaper. He said if I started to use the synthetic, I should stay with it. so.............. what were you using on this outboard? BTW did you use a pump to feed the gear lube in...or did you just squeeze the vinyl container? Don |

Either pump or use a squeeze tube and refill the gear case. It's full when there is oil coming out of the top plug. Leave the pump or tube in the bottom hole and tighten the top plug. Remove the pump or tube and replace the bottom plug. It's ok if a little leaks out. That's it. |

Just wasn't sure how hard it would be to squeeze all 12 oz from the 16 oz container. My old Seagull uses 140 weight gear oil so I have to find a supplier for that. |
