US Marine Tachometer
Please no Bayliner Bashing - it's got nothing to do with the boat (I think).
Took the boat out last night only to discover that the tach is reading around 1000rpm at idle. I fiddled with the wires and got no results. Last time something like this happened, I took it in (under warrenty). Any suggestions on a fix for a neophyte DYI'er? I really don't want to take it in again (this time I'd have to pay!) My first inclination is to say oh well, who needs a tach anyway. The sound of the engine tells me what I need to know, but if I can repair it myself and with little or no $, I'd give it a try. Tach is a US Marine mounted in a 2000 Bayliner 1950 Capri. 3.0L Mercruiser Alpha I/O. Thanks in advance, Joe |

Agree with Gould on this one. Also, you may check with the tach manufacturer.
I had a tach go bad after the boat warranty, but found that all the instruments had a ten year warranty. I sent in the tach, they sent me a new one. For a nominal fee ($10) I could upgrade the warranty to lifetime. I was too cheap to do that. Besides, one of these liberal potshots might just get me sooner than later! John On the 'Poco Loco' out of Deale, MD Liberal potshots? :-) You know why you got such a cheap deal on the tack swap, right? It's a liberal plot. We build in electronic chips on the units shipped to conservatives, and we can get a fix on your location to within a two meter radius. :-) |
