After reading everything here, and looking at a few web sites, I came
across a blog in which an individual suggested running chkdsk with the /r parameter. It took about two hours for chkdsk to do its thing, but when it finished I tried the convert command again. This time it worked! I now have an NTFS drive. Yippee. I wonder if Starbucks will give me a free latte for doing that? -- John H |

Have you noticed that none of his problems have overwhelmed him so much that whined in rec.boats "I just couldn't take it anymore". He has a problem and he takes care of it. No big deal. You could learn a lot from him. |

Well, he shouldn't have any trouble with the CONVERT commmand. It's almost idiot proof, which probably explains why SALTY can't handle it... |

I wonder if Starbucks will give me a free latte for doing that? John, there are better places to get computer advice than a boating NG, as you've just found out. There are a couple of good people here, but a lot of noise as well. Glad you got it worked out. Thanks! Actually, I don't mind being called names by Harry or his followers. It's almost an honor. -- John H |
