470 temp??
I have a 1980 18ft with a 224 "470" in it..
I just replaced head gasket, milled head, new valve springs, and a new outdrive impeller pump. What temp should it run at....I have the themostat out currently. The dealer didn't have one and I didn't trust the old one. Thanks |

470 temp??
I would like to see that raw water cooled 470. Must be tricky with that aluminum block.

In salt water, no more than 140 degrees F., in fresh water 160 to 180 is OK. |

470 temp??
the 470 runs hot by most marine standards, 170-190 F if it has heat exchanger.
this heat has the tendency to cook the voltage regulator |
