Cruisin' Past the Old Cyber Neighborhood
Hello, rec boats
Tomorrow is the one-month anniversary of Boatingforum. Thanks to many of the rec.boats crew who have contributed something there. In the first 30 days we have had 320 posts to 90 different threads, and the vast majority are boating related in nature. There are now 28 "members", and typically 10-20 guest visitors every day. While the moderator function allows posts to be deleted that are blatant trolls or personal attacks, in the first 30 days there hasn't been a single post removed from the board. People are behaving like gentlemen, (and there are some ladies as well), so there's no WWF atmosphere. Not much need for a referee; and what a pleasant surprise that has been. :-) So, for the vast crowd (both of you) possibly wondering how this experiment with a lightly moderated forum organized by topic is progressing; satisfactory so far- but still in the startup stages. Best wishes to one and all..... |

I always felt that a little evenly applied moderating would do wonders to keep the worst offenders in check allowing the majority of posters to find a way to get along. |

Indeed, but I think it also helps that Chuck sprinkles the messages with photos of bare, naked ladies. :) Seriously, though, the bottom feeders seem to be staying away in droves. There was one attempt I noticed to start some crap, but it went nowhere. |

I've noticed you haven't posted there in awhile, either. Running out of lies? |

Please go back to your self-imposed exile.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Don't insult Chuck, just put him on your block list like you supposedly do to me.... |

Perhaps Old Salty is upset because almost everyone on Chuck's board behaves decently. I don't buy into the whine about "spammer" and "troll," though. That's absurd. Old Salty has been eating too many fish from the polluted waters of Long Island Sound. |
