Wonder if the US gov't would send a couple of those free converters up here. I have two 19" JVC analog sets, left behind by my sons, that work perfectly. But all in all, my wife pays about 100$ per month for sat. TV. basicly 1200$ a year for watching a tube. I'd like to can the whole thing myself. Or put up an antenna and go back to freebie. I haven't been following the TV ads, so is my assumption that TV broadcasting is coming to an end over the "airwaves" next year correct? |

You can use a standard TV on cable or Sat. but all stations will be forced to broadcast digital, so you have to have a digital compliant TV or a converter box to pick up over-the-air broadcasting, or at least that's how I understand it. |

What does that mean? The end of cable? Really, I have not been following any of this. |

This means that the tube TV sets (analogue) will no longer be able to receive a signal unless a digital converter box is attached. Cable subscribers are not effected as they already send the signals digitally. Oh...thanks. I don't even like to look at the cable bill, since I think the prices being charged are outrageous. |

Wal-Mart is a good place to avoid for many reasons.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - I read my fulmbly typing and ment to say "I'm NOT a Wal-box fan" Seem like I do that a lot....... I don't even like driving by Wal-Mart stores. I always think the place is going to blow up from "deferred maintenance" or that an irate customer trying to return shoddy Chinese goods is going to come out the front door dissatisfied, guns ablazing.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - That has to be one of the dumbest comments about something I've ever seen. |

I hear ya...that's what my wife pays for cable service including 13 HD channels. A lot of it is repeated....some programs/games are on four different channels at once and then again later on from the west coast stations. When we have over the air HD... I may pull the cable plug. Trouble is...we only have 3 english and one french station here. |

We got the uppity zillion channel cable package and I watch four of them on a regular basis - History, Discovery, Speed and SciFi. And Red Sox games so I guess it's five. TV sucks. |
