Cockpit drainage, lets try again
"hk" wrote in message . .. Do you still have your place in Florida? When my mother moved to Florida she first lived in the Jupiter area, but then moved south to W. Palm Beach. Too far south in Florida for me to live; I cannot tolerate that sort of heat, but...in the winter, it's a great place to visit. Nope. Sold it a month after "Wilma" ..... but not really because of it. Mrs.E. missed the family and we were spending less and less time down there. I absolutely loved it during the winter months, but I'd never last during the summer. Two things I regret doing: 1. Selling the Florida house. 2. Surprise! ..... selling the Grand Banks. The Navigator was just too big and although I liked it a lot, it didn't make sense to keep because most of the time I am the only one using the boats. It was too big to easily single-hand. The GB was a fun boat, although slow as molasses in the winter. But, it had character, I could single-hand it and you sure couldn't beat the fuel efficiency. The Mainship is ok .... but it's just another boat. It just doesn't have the unique, nautical tradition of the GB. So, we will see how things go. I might be shopping again before next season. Eisboch There are quite a few low volume builders in your neck of the woods who put out some distinctive 30-36 footers you'd probably like. If you haven't been there, visit the Legacy factory. Legacy's 32' is a dream boat. But these days, who knows if any of these builders will stay in business. http://www.legacyyachts.com/ If we move back to Florida, it won't be any farther south than Palm Coast. I like the seasonal changes of northern Florida. -- I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do. — Edward Everett Hale (1822-1909) |

The live oaks were pretty, but the area never reminded me of New England. I have some buddies living in northern Florida, about as far "north" as you can get, in Fernandina Beach, and as much as I like that area, it doesn't remind me of New England, either. Now, Tallahassee, other than the climate and the flora, is closer to New England in looks...with the rolling hills, et cetera. -- I am only one, but I am one. Eisboch So, with no hull to deck joint and no liner and with truly sealed deck and large scuppers, my boat could be better offshore (except for her deadrise) than many open offshore boats? Seems reasonable, scuppers might be easy to make. |

I am in Tallahassee and looking out my window, the vegetation is so thick you cannot see more than 2' into it. Kudzu will kidnap you if you dont move fast enough and we have more humidity in a cubic foot of air than in most New England lakes. True, it isnt S. Fl but It sure isnt NE. |
