So are a couple of people here in rec.boats. :-) Eisboch The old f*rts here ain't runnin' for POTUS. There's a couple I might consider voting for. Meanwhile, your buddy Obama is making a huge mistake, I think. Back from vacation, he's running around promising millions of new, union jobs. He must have forgotten that union jobs make up a very small minority of employment in the US and most non-union workers and employers want absolutely nothing to do with them. He isn't going to garner many votes with this approach. Eisboch Yes, indeed...the exploited lower middle income workers in this country know that Job One is to work for less and with fewer if any bennies so their corporate masters and stockholders can get richer, while they slide into oblivion. I do so wish I were younger sometimes, so that when the exploited finally realize they've been getting screwed for generations, I could see some of the heads they put on pikes. That's not the group that Obama is alienating. The majority of jobs in the US is in small, private companies. For the most part, a "big" corporate culture doesn't exist and the owners are typically the major (or only) stockholder. These companies have a relationship with the employees quite different than that you complain about and typically have no interest in unions, employees or employer. This workforce is the group that Obama will not appeal to with his promises, and they represent the majority of voters. Eisboch |

I think the PUMA faction is going to take the nomination away from BarryO and give it to Hillary. Just a hunch - nothing to back it up, but reading about BarryO's capitulation to the PUMA faction, the fact that Clinton will have her own floor whips at the convention, the rally, the absolutely vicious email the PUMA faction sent around (and probably more racist than anything I've seen in the past few years) and that a full 30% of the PUMA faction saying they will not vote for BarryO under any circumstances and some noted Democrats awkwardly avoiding BarryO like the Plague - it's very possible. The later is key - the Democrats in this state avoided Ned Lamont like the Plague too - and look what happened to him. Add that the Clintons aren't being very visible or open about endorsing BarryO, the new questions about his heritage (as in registering at a Indonesian Catholic School as a Muslim), the fact that the Arab world will view him as an apostate, heretic and unclean making his job harder to deal with them (which is gaining some momentum among the smarter Democrats). You know what's even funnier about all this? All this stuff I've just talked about has come from Democratic sources, blogs, comments and one forum I read fairly regularly - none of which are exactly ...um... moderately leftist in nature. :) It might be actually worth watching. |

You are scaring me. If this happens (and I also think it's a possibility) the whole US election system is going to be turned upside down and may never be the same again. Any remaining faith in the integrity of the process is going to go out the window, forever. We will have the Clintons to thank for this. Plus, I'll never be able to discuss politics with Mrs.E. again ........ Eisboch |

As a country, if we are going to war, we should do it as a country meaning everyone should roll the dice. |

I think those serving might disagree with you, although your general justification has merit. The volunteer military is a much more professional, dedicated and capable organization than that of the draft period which I was a member of. Eisboch |

It looks like he is falling off a cliff, which is why Harry is going crazy with these cut and paste article. If he really wanted to make a difference, he would spend time doing something productive to help, instead of spending all his time in rec.boats. |

The head is not where Vlad put the pike, and the victims were alive at the time. Not really a pike in his case, the proper stake is as high as the navel, greased, and tapers from four inches at the ground to a rounded point like half a golf ball. There is a reason that the Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishments. Casady |
