I think it's great. McCain and I both support the draft, but for
entirely different reasons.

Personally I think the draft is a good thing. Stopping it sure didn't
stop stupid wars but it did give us a generation of stupid kids who
would have been better served if they spent a few years in the
military.


I'm in favor of a universal draft with exemptions only for serious
physical or mental disorders. With such a draft, the sons and daughters
of the rich would also be exposed to soldiers' deaths and maimings, and
that would mean serious constraints on incompetent, dishonest,
war-mongering administrations like Dubya's.

Hopefully, the Dems will make a nice TV commercial out of McCain's
statement. If they do, that may well be the end of McCain.
