Default ebay boats not selling well....

The fall or winter seems to be the right time to buy a boat, and after
monitoring ebay auctions for quite a while, I've noticed that when gas
got up to three bucks per gal. boats didn't sell well, because people
were afraid of the gas consumption, and it was a tire kickers market,
so it seemed.

then when fuel hit 4 bucks, per, boats were bringing a good price and
people were buying them this summer. Evidently they thought that they
weren't going to let high petrol get in their way of summer fun. So
boats seemed to bring pretty good money compared to compatible craft
just the previous year. Most strange.

now the fall is on, and fuel is getting cheaper, and I see that some
people are wanting hefty prices for their boats in an off season, but
even more reasonably priced craft aren't getting the bids that you
would think that they should.

'Tis an odd market to say...

Could be local markets are in a firesale. When people need cash, the first
thing to go are the toys. And with the employment market now at risk I
figure good used deals are coming.

I wouldn't even think Ebay was the best place to buy a boat. You
probably have the best chance of getting one cheap in the paper or
just seeing one in the yard with a sign ... printed in feminine
letters.

LOL!

Well, I bought two boats off ebay and was well satisfied with what I
bought. But around here, if you look in the local "Trader" paper, the
boats are always for sale "anywhere but close to here" plus a "so-many-
dollar-per-word" and fuzzy-grainy BW pics don't help either.

But this is going to be interesting. I'm still looking for the ever
elusive bargain on a 28 ft. pontoon.
