FS: '88 Wellcraft Antigua in Sandusky, OH $9,500.00 OBO
I've had two people look at the boat. One was unable to get financing, and one negotiated a rock bottom price, then gave me a "if it's still available in spring, I'll take it". As of 9/26 I have a new boat, making me a very motivated seller, hence the price drop to 9,500.00 OBO in hopes of motivating a buyer so I won't have to pay duplicate decommissioning fees. This boat and its options are now priced under the lowest NADA book value. Description: Introduced in 1987 sporting lines that still grace todays vessels, the Antigua 265 is probably the roomiest 26 foot sunbridge cruiser ever built. Her cabin feels more like her overall length of 28 feet (LOA without pulpit), than her waterline length of 26 feet. She sleeps six, in the typical boating style (read: crowded), but three adults can stay aboard for days on end as they will each have a private sleeping area. She offers seating for six adults in the cockpit and/or five adults out of the elements in the comfort of her cabin. Her narrow beam, and high deep vee hull lets her ride gently into Lake Erie chop, and be trailered anywhere withoout special permits, but in my opinion makes her feel somewhat "tippy" when taking large swells on the beam. Her small block 260HP V8 keeps her fron being a speed demon, but she will get three adults and their gear on plane all while returning between 1.5 and 1.9 miles per galllon (from fuel flow and GPS, latest fill up will have updated information) . I am the third owner who bought the boat in 2004 for $7000. Since then, the boat has seen ongoing repairs and improvements up to the present day. Many of these updates such as the fuel flow meter, high water alarm, and bildge pump counter, were bourne out of my necessity to feel absolutely secure with owning what I then deemed as a "questionable boat". While she has seen weekly summmer use since 2004, 2006 was the first year that we went from many weekend projects to improve her comfort, and safety to actually taking trips and enjoying her with confidence. In her current state, we've had her from Sandusky to Put-in-Bay in 4-6 feet of Lake Erie and no longer think twice about traveling in 3-5s. As of Labor day we took her across lake Erie in 4-6s, and all the way up to Detroit for what we can only call our finest cruising weekend to date. My monies and effort have brought me from being embarassed and unsure of this boat to a boat I am now happy to own and show/discuss with anyone. Because of the systems I've installed, and the logs I've kept, I monitor and know more about this vessels operational condition/sea worthiness than most other recreational boaters. I have information that can spot critical problems before they become a threat to safety.
