Nice shot.
I noticed water coming from the deck through the small freeing ports. Was it raining??? Mark |

Mark:
That's quite normal for lakers. I forget the technical term but I see many ships that are spraying the deck and hatch covers. The canal/lakes are cooler than the air and it's to prevent problems from different expansion (or contraction) rates due to temperature. If you can access the picture of the Tim S Dool (from July 27th, 2010) that I posted on August 8th 2011, you can see the sprays. If you can't find it on a.b.p.t-s,then try http://pics.boatnerd.com/v/shipping/...33104.jpg.html It's not visible on this picture, but I recently saw the Dool, and water was running out of one of the the anchor pockets. This is also common. I'll try to post a picture of this soon. Steve On Sun, 21 Aug 2011 15:35:10 -0400, "MWB" wrote: Nice shot. I noticed water coming from the deck through the small freeing ports. Thanks Paul. I'm just lucky there was a bit of a charge in the
battery. the date on the image is wrong cause I didn't set the camera date. Steve On Sun, 21 Aug 2011 12:02:58 -0400, "Paul McGrane" wrote: "Steve" wrote in message .. . Thanks for getting back to me. I saw the other photo after I posted
yesterday. They are designed to cool the deck down. In the summer we use the water cannons to cool the deck on crude oil tankers. The pressure builds up and sets off the pressure relief valves and it is loud and vapors enter the atmosphere. Mark |
