Do we have to choose?

I would prefer to keep both.

Me too! I didn't vote because I couldn't choose "Both".

I prefer swamps.

I paddle my kayak in the Puget Sound.

I row my Adirondack Guideboat in lakes.

Sometimes I switch.

I would have been nice had there been more choices. I kind of like creeks
myself. Swamps are ok too.

Sounds like an excellent plan for Nader fans. Vote once for Nader to
satisfy your conscience, and once for Kerry to facilitate a regime
change.

If you aren't on the bleeding edge, you are history.

Agreed, I don't own a canoe.

Rivers.... They lead to something. At a lake you are already there.

A lake usually leads to several rivers; a river usually leads to only one
lake... :-)

Move to a place that has bigger lakes!

E.g. - the Great Lakes has more shoreline than the east, west and gulf
coasts of North America combined - over 17,000 km.

I already live on the coast of the Pacific. I don't consider the Great Lakes
as "Lakes." To me they are as much of an ocean as are oceans.

True, many rivers lead from some lakes, but sometimes the river out is less
fascinating!

I enjoy both. I paddle the Hudson River in upstate NY when I want to see
some costal history and get a good workout. I still very much enjoy the
lakes because its quiet and relaxing with no noisy motor boats.
