Gear shift cable
Hi everybody:
Anyone ever had to replace the gear shift cable on a Volvo Penta 270 outdrive.....with the boat in the water? Single, standard Morse cable (screwed both ends) about 4 metres long. 2 Litre Volvo AQ125 engine (in line OHC) Outdrive has a hose/sleeve mounted to inside frame of drive (engine compartment side) through which the cable passes to the outside. This sleeve has bends that have too tight a radius to allow the rigid end of the cable to pass through...so presumably needs to be removed, the cable threaded through to the outside leg and then the sleeve installed over the cable and secured to the frame ( male screw fitting) Can't see and can't find any info on this set up so not sure if I remove this sleeve if I open a 1 inch hole in the boat below the waterline. I'd sure like to hear from anyone with any experience of this. Thanks Bob |
